What fills a shape's interior (§50 "fill and stroke", §58).
Three states, because there are three answers and two of them are not
paints:
"inherit" — filled in the material's own colour, with no per-vertex
colour at all. The default for every closed §50 primitive, and exactly
what R-23 shipped: a shape that names no paint produces the geometry it
produced before §58 existed, byte for byte.
a Paint — filled in that paint, which the geometry carries as
per-vertex colour (see Shape2D).
"none" — not filled. The default for the three stroke-only
primitives (Line, Polyline, Arc), and what an
outlined rectangle needs.
The two words are SVG's, which §50's "SVG import/export compatibility" row
makes the right vocabulary to borrow: fill="none" means the same thing
here that it means there.
